Ekaterina Proskurina - Practicing Architect, Designer, Artist, and Inspirational Leader of KPD.design.
I graduated from the Yaroslavl School of Architecture (Yaroslavl State Technical University, Department of Architecture) in 2009.
With over 10 years of professional experience, my portfolio includes developing concepts and projects for commercial interiors of hotels, restaurants, shopping centers, business centers, offices, specialized laboratory projects, home staging and homestyling of apartments, houses, townhouses, and villas. I have also worked in international architectural firms on large-scale commercial interior projects and have experience working at the Andrei Dellos Restaurant House.Immediately after university, I worked in the Department of Cultural Heritage, overseeing the adaptation of monuments of various significance in Yaroslavl and the surrounding region. Working in the department contributed to my unfinished dissertation on the semantics of ancient Russian settlements. My passion for grand architecture brought me to Moscow to join an international architecture and engineering company specializing in hotel design, shopping centers, and business centers, such as Metropolis, Okeania, and the Park-Hotel Bogatyr in Sochi. With over 10 years of professional experience, my portfolio includes developing concepts and projects for commercial interiors of hotels, restaurants, shopping centers, business centers, offices, specialized laboratory projects, home staging and homestyling of apartments, houses, townhouses, and villas. My previous experience has transformed into an approach to design and planning services that focuses on coordination between design, architecture, and engineering solutions. This is a necessary requirement for large private homes and commercial interiors. For us, design is the interaction between people and space. The more comfortable the interaction, the more successful the design. Our clients are drawn to space zoning and ergonomics, functional color combinations, custom furniture, unique textures of materials used, and the resulting exclusive stylistics of the rooms. We work within our clients' budgets. By entrusting the design to us, you will forget about many problems that often arise during the design process.

We provide comprehensive engineering design services for our projects. Engineering solutions have an impact on architecture and design. By entrusting us with engineering design, you won't have to coordinate different contractors, which minimizes potential errors and reduces risks. Engineering design is a complex process aimed at developing the technical project of an object, including design, calculation, and selection of equipment, materials, and technologies, as well as risk assessment and development of measures to minimize them. In general, engineering design is associated with the creation and design of technical objects, systems, and complexes, including buildings, structures, machinery, electrical and electronic devices, and more. It includes stages such as design, development of technical solutions, system modeling and analysis, equipment selection and calculation, drawing and specification development, as well as project support at all stages of its implementation.
Our Approach to Project Implementation is Structured
We break down all the work into stages:
In the project brief (Technical Task), the goals and objectives of the project, as well as the main issues that the project aims to address, are reflected. A questionnaire is filled out to compile the project brief.
During the first working meeting, the key decision-makers from the client's side are identified, and a mechanism for making changes and project delivery is established. In the absence of executive documentation plans in DWG format for engineering networks and architecture, measurements are taken.
The next step will be to provide several options for spatial planning solutions. We take into account the client's preferences and offer options for conceptual visualization. The agreed spatial planning solution serves as a basis for the development of all subsequent sections related to engineering and drawings.
Simultaneously with the design preparation, interior design elements (floor, ceiling, wall materials) and lighting are selected. There are specific requirements for their selection in private and commercial interiors. They will have the necessary certifications.
For commercial projects, lighting is selected and confirmed by photometric calculations to ensure sufficient illumination. Lighting has an impact on the fatigue level of users. Therefore, we recommend and develop different lighting scenarios for each project to serve different usage tasks.
After the 3D visualization is approved, we proceed to the drawings. The composition of the drawings varies depending on the typology of the project and the technical task for it. You can familiarize yourself with the full list of services provided by the Studio HERE.
